5 Teams To Start A Dynasty With In College Football 25
As I said in a previous blog, picking your first dynasty is one of the most important decisions you will make in your College Football 25 journey. There is something so naturally fun about creating a dynasty, and it's because we can't do it in real life. The painful reality is that many of us aspired to be major players or influencers in the sports that we grew up watching. Unfortunately, very few of us get that opportunity.
Except that we do.
It's just in a video game. And without the real-world pressure? That's pretty good if you ask me.
Some of the most memorable of mine were:
Texas - I freaking loved throwing Roy Williams out and up long passes when I was an 8 year old.
Nebraska - Shout out to Eric Crouch.
Army - Man, I have the option 4 million times with them.
Minnesota - They got my boy PJ Fleck, and I had to turn them into a powerhouse.
Notre Dame - Look, sometimes you have to have your favorite team actually win.
But what about this year in College Football 25? You may have been out of the game for a while. Maybe you don't know the ball like you used to. Perhaps you are just looking for some inspiration. Regardless of your status, I am here to help. Here are 5 solid options for you + a few honorable mentions.
Honorable mentions
San Jose State
Awesome uniforms. Ken Niumatalolo is their head coach. Not a known name. It checks all the boxes.
SMU
Texas recruiting + ACC newcomers. Now that’s a good combo.
East Carolina
Best logo in the nation? I could make the argument.
Kennesaw State or Sam Houston State
Two newcomers to the FBS. Can you make them something?
UAB
Kick Dilfer to the curb and coach them to glory.
Top 5 selections.
5. Oregon State or Washington State
They deserve better. They really do. Both schools have excellent fan bases, uniforms, and exciting football histories. Now, they are left on the curb like a piece of trash. Conference realignment screwed them over in a big way, and it's now up to you to right that wrong in a way that will never be able to happen now. Utilize their prestige over their current schedule situation, dominate them, and then try to reignite the rivalries with the "Big 10" schools in Oregon and Washington. After that? It's up to you to stomp their faces in.
Can you do it?
4. UMass
This might be the single hardest rebuild you can do. They have been an FBS program for 10 years. You might ask, have they had any success because I haven't heard anything about them being good? And the answer is no. They stink. The most wins they have had in a season since moving up have been 4.
4!!!!
It's going to be insanely difficult to turn around that history. Add in that they are in a low-recruiting area, and getting players will be nearly impossible. Oh yeah, and they are independent, so chances are the schedule is going to be a challenge.
Have fun.
3. UCF
This one is simple for me. UCF has all the makings of a fun dynasty team.
Good uniforms. Good stadium. Fun offense. Mobile enough quarterback in KJ Jefferson. Decent history, not great history.
Now, my favorite part of the idea of rebuilding UCF is that you are now in the conference that I am most excited to watch. Will the Big 12 be the best conference? No, but gosh darn, is it going to be fun. You have the opportunity to turn into the premier program of the new Big 12, utilizing Florida talent while taking on a whole bunch of Texas teams.
Oh, AND SPACE UNI'S.
2. Your favorite team.
Let's not lose sight of one of the true joys of playing a video game. You can play as your favorite team! Do you know how badly I can't wait to play as Notre Dame and absolutely beat the brakes off of USC in front of Touchdown Jesus? It's going to be incredible! Take your favorite player and turn him into a Heisman candidate. Redeem a lousy season. Heck, go win the title!
There is nothing better.
It reminds me of one of my favorite commercials of all time.
Tears every freaking time.
1. The closest G5 team to you.
This is cheating because I live a quarter mile from one of the best teams to rebuild in this game.
Shout out to Coastal Carolina University.
I mean, come on. So good.
But this is the perfect solution for a dynasty team. Say you live in Alabama. You could pick several teams instead of the big dogs.
What about if you live in Wyoming? Great. Use Wyoming.
What about if you are in Tennessee and want to avoid picking an SEC team? Awesome. Middle Tennessee State is waiting for you. Or Vanderbilt, they might as well be G5.
This is the best way to do it. You get to support a local team, take on an underdog, and become a niche fan when everyone wants to root for the teams that always win.
The beauty of College football dynasty mode versus Madden Franchise mode is that you get four times the number of choices. I have played with countless dynasties, and it never seems to get boring. Don't limit yourself, and don't feel like you have to do everything at once. We have plenty of time to play and embrace this game. We waited 11 long years for this bad boy; let's enjoy every second of it.
This week is going to be awesome. Look at the positives, ignore the negatives, and go ball out.
